Description

Wheel brush with abrasive grinding bristles for processing stainless steel, steel, wood and non-ferrous metals.

• Long lifetime
• Uniform grinding performance through permanent release of grain
• Suitable also for structuring wood

Machine suitability:
The HRB technical brush is designed for use with a handheld drill or an angle grinder with a 6 mm or M14 spindle. Please note the information about working and safety speeds. The maximum safety speed is marked on every product. This speed is important to ensure your safety in the workplace and must never be exceeded. Using adjustable-speed machines permits speeds to be adjusted to the maximum safe working speed. In addition, brushes fitted to handheld machines must have a maximum outer diameter of 180 mm.

Material suitability:
This brush has been designed especially for processing stainless steel (SST, Inox), e.g. 1.4031 (X5CrNi18-10 or 304), steel (structural steel – also termed St37, S235JR, 1.0037 and carbon steel) and cast steels, as well as aluminium and other non-ferrous metals such as copper, brass and bronze, etc. The product achieves good to very good results when used on any of the materials listed here. In addition, the brush can also be used for working on wood.

Structure and production:
The fill material used for the HRB is an abrasive nylon bristle that has been intermixed with the abrasive. This fill material offers superior elasticity and flexibility combined with a minimal risk of breakage. A uniform and even abrasive action is produced. This means that the brush is particularly suited to use on steel, non-ferrous metals and hard plastics that require only light deburring.

Quality:
The HRB gives users the best RHODIUS tool in its category. RHODIUS TOPline products represent a maximum level of performance and quality.

Applications:
Wheel brushes are the perfect choice for processing solid or hollow rods, sections, welding seams, cutting edges, toothed wheels and grooves as well as narrow surfaces. These tools are used here in particular for roughing, deburring, edge chamfering, matt finishing, structuring, de-rusting, cleaning and slag removal. This RHODIUS wheel brush is also an excellent choice for processing die-cast zinc, plastics and painted metal sheets as well as wood.

Dimensions:
This wheel brush is available in the diameters of 75 mm, 100 mm and 140 mm.

Industries:
This makes it the ideal tool for the many applications and challenges faced in car repair and metalwork shops, in plant, container, boiler and tank construction, structural steel engineering, pipeline construction and installation work.

Notice:
The brush diameter, the length of brush filler as well as fill material density are all important factors that go towards producing optimum results for surface treatment. A longer wire length will make the brush softer and more flexible. These kinds of brushes will be an excellent choice for processing structured workpieces and for ensuring non-aggressive surface treatment. As wire length shortens, the brush can be used for more aggressive types of processing. To keep surface treatment work as efficient as possible, the best option here is to select the maximum brush diameter that can be fitted to the drive system on your tool. A high fill material density is not only essential for optimum performance but is also needed to ensure a long brush lifetime. In contrast, lower fill material densities increase the flexibility of the wire and are a better choice for processing profiled surfaces.

Safety and warning notices

RHODIUS – Manufacturer’s Recommendations for the safe use of Power Brushes
Please read the following safety recommendations and manufacturer’s instructions
on how to best use the product safely prior to use.
1. Before Operation
• Brushes should be stored in a safe place where they are protected against the following
effects:
- High humidity, heat, water, other liquids or aggressive medium that could cause
damage to the brush
- Acids and vapours from acids
- Low temperatures, which could cause condensation on the brushes, causing oxidisation
of metal parts and filaments
- Deformation of any part of the brush
• Check the brush carefully before use. Don’t use any brush that is damaged in any way
• Do not make any changes to the to the construction of the brush
• Check that no external material is on the brush face
• Only competent personnel should ever use power driven brushing tools
• Young persons should under the age of 18 years be constantly supervised
• Appropriate safety gloves and shoes to be worn
• Suitable work clothes that protect arms and legs and general body areas (leather
apron)
• Eye and face protection
• Filter Mask
• Working area to be properly screened off
3. Mode of Operation
• Use brushes only on suitable machines and power tools
• Always operate the brush within the recommended maximum safe free working
speed (MSFS)
• Always establish the rpm of the machine or tool to be used. Ensure that
the brush to be used is compatible with respect to speed.
• Check that the brush is secured and clamped correctly before operation
• Wherever possible position the body to minimize the hazards of sparks and loose
particles from the brushing operation
• Don’t wear loose clothing, jewelry
• Long hair should be protected against entanglement by means of a hairnet
• Work rests of rigid and adjustable design should be used to support the work piece while brushing. Adjust the work rest to a minimum opening of 1/8” (3 mm) from the rotating brush face
• Avoid excessive brush pressure against the work. This reduces
the efficiency of the brush and could cause pre-mature failure
• Take care to protect the hands from rotating parts
• Positively secure work to be brushed wherever possible
• Avoid unintentional starting of the machine tool
• Do not eat or drink at the work place
• Keep children away
• Be aware of approaching unprotected people into secure work area
Additional safety recommendations and directives; refer to relevant national
laws, regulations and standards.
